Solid wood throughout, the leg assembly and back spindles ares maple, the hoop is steam-bent ash, and the seat is pine. Rake-and-splay legs are affixed to the seat mechanically, and glued. The top of the legs form though-tenons, which slot into tapered mortices in the seat. Finally, glued wedges are hammered into the top of the legs from above, locking them into place. It's an elegant technique and a proven, resilient joint. The four visible leg-tops in the surface of the seat are a nice touch.
